What is the difference between dry hire and full-service or “wet hire” bartending?

With dry hire, the host purchases and supplies the alcohol. A full-service or wet-hire provider supplies or sells the alcohol under the licensing rules that apply to that business and event. Best Host Bartending is a dry-hire service: we do not sell, purchase, or transport alcohol.

Do you provide or pick up the alcohol?

No. The client is responsible for purchasing, supplying, and transporting all alcohol to the event. We make that easier by helping you plan the menu and quantities and by providing the shopping list assistance included with your package.

Is dry-hire bartending less expensive than a traditional catered bar?

It often can be. Because you buy the alcohol directly, you control the brands and budget, avoid an alcohol markup from us, and keep what remains after the event. The total cost will still depend on your guest count, menu, service time, supplies, and venue requirements.

Can you operate a cash bar or charge guests for drinks?

No. Best Host Bartending does not sell alcohol or collect payment from guests by the drink. A cash bar involves the sale of alcohol and must be handled by a properly licensed provider with the venue’s approval.

If your event is at a venue or public location, please obtain its alcohol policies in writing and send them to us before booking.
